IF Attention Index // August 2026

Where the attention is, federation by federation.

A monthly reading of public and institutional attention for the 44 Olympic International Federations, drawn from Wikipedia readership across 16 language editions, weighted by the economic weight of each language market, and Google Trends worldwide search interest by topic, all languages. Ranked on level. The arrow is the year-on-year direction relative to the rest of the field. Directional, not a valuation.

Method. Four signals per federation: Wikipedia readership of the sport's articles and of the federation's own article (monthly, twelve-month mean, 16 language editions, each weighted by the size of its market), and Google Trends worldwide search interest for the sport topic and the federation topic (all languages, expressed against a fixed anchor so months and federations compare). Ranks are computed within summer and within winter, since the Olympic cycle inflates winter attention this year. Index 0 to 100 is a rescaling of the level score. The arrow compares each federation's year-on-year change with the median of its group, which removes the drift of Wikipedia readership as a whole.

Limits. Language is a proxy for market, not for country. Tier is the IOC revenue-distribution group, shown for orientation and to be confirmed against the current ASOIF allocation. Attention is not demand and not revenue; it is an early signal of both.
The Federation Radar gives one federation its own monthly reading: position against its tier peers, what moved and why, and the one decision it implies, in four pages for the Secretary General. stephane@evidense.io
